2S19 Msta-S

The 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzer was developed in the early 1980s for the USSR Defence Ministry’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate. Initial assembly took place at the Ural Transport Engineering Plant; production later moved entirely to Sterlitamak in Bashkiria.

The 2S19 has only bullet-resistant armour. It used a liquid-cooled, twelve-cylinder V-84A four-stroke V diesel producing 780 hp (573.5 kW) at 2,000 rpm.

Crew: 5, or 7 when ammunition is supplied from the ground; combat weight: 42 tonnes; speed: 60 km/h; range: 500 km. Armament: a 152 mm 2A64 howitzer, a 12.7 mm NSVT-12.7 Utyos machine gun and six launchers for 81 mm smoke grenades. Ammunition: 50 separate-loading rounds and 300 rounds of 12.7 mm.
