The car’s story
The Alfa Romeo Montreal sports car debuted at the 1967 Montreal World’s Fair. Initially called Giulia Coupe, favourable visitor reactions led to its being renamed after the city and put into production. Nuccio Bertone and Giorgetto Giugiaro led development, with styling entrusted to Marcello Gandini. The production version appeared in 1970; 3,900 cars were built over six years.
The rear-wheel-drive 2+2 coupé used the Alfa 1750 GTV platform and a Tipo 33 engine. Its 16-valve 2,593 cc V8 produced 200 PS at 6,500 rpm and 245 Nm at 4,750 rpm. Top speed was 220 km/h and 0–100 km/h took 7.1 seconds. Quality cabin materials provided the required comfort.
