BTR-152 armoured personnel carrier

State trials of the ZIS-152 truck ended in 1949. It entered service on 24 March 1950 as the BTR-152. By the end of 1950, 600 vehicles had been built, including 301 with radios. A total of 12,421 BTR-152s were produced by 1962. They were assembled at ZIS until 1959, then at the Bryansk Automobile Plant.

Armour: hull front 14 mm, sides 9–11 mm, engine and transmission compartment roof 5 mm, floor 4 mm.

The BTR-152 used a liquid-cooled ZIS-123V carburetted inline six-cylinder engine. It displaced 5,550 cc and produced 110 hp at 3,000 rpm.

Crew: 2; troops carried: 17; combat weight: 8.95 tonnes; maximum speed: 70 km/h; range: 780 km. Main armament: a 7.62 mm SGMB machine gun of the 1949 model. Ammunition: 1,250 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
