BTR-90

The BTR-90, built by the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant, was first shown to the general public in Nizhny Novgorod in 1994 at the ‘Armament, Military Equipment, Conversion-94’ exhibition.

The BTR-90 used a six-cylinder, four-stroke 2V-06-2S diesel with opposing cylinder banks in a V configuration, turbocharging and charge-air intercooling. It displaced 16,950 cc and produced 510 hp at 2,000 rpm.

Crew: 3; combat weight: 20.9 tonnes. Maximum speed: 80 km/h on land and 9 km/h afloat. Land range: 600 km; endurance afloat: 12 hours.

Main armament: a 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannon, a 9P135M launcher for 9M113 Konkurs anti-tank guided missiles, a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, a 30 mm AG-17 automatic grenade launcher and six launchers for 81 mm smoke grenades of the 902V Tucha system.

Ammunition: 500 rounds of 30 mm, 2,000 rounds of 7.62 mm, 400 grenades of 30 mm and four anti-tank guided missiles.
