The car’s story
The 1963 Chevrolet Impala convertible represented the second generation of this legendary model. It was assembled in Arlington, Texas, in the United States. Cars of this generation received simpler, cleaner styling without the large tailfins on the rear wings. A distinctive feature of the 1963 Impala was its almost flat windscreen, which replaced the semi-panoramic type. Enthusiasts regard this model year as one of the most attractive among its predecessors.
Technically, the Chevrolet Impala was largely conventional. Its construction featured an X-frame, leaf-sprung rear suspension and drum brakes with a single-circuit hydraulic system. An automatic transmission was the only optional item available. Fabric and imitation leather were used for the upholstery. The engine was made of cast iron and had its camshaft in the block.
