The car’s story
The coupé shown here in SS trim was produced from 1968 to 1969. It was built at a factory in Brazil and sold mainly in South America. The car was fitted with a 2.5-litre six-cylinder engine. Its output reached 80 hp and its top speed was 145 km/h. By the standards of its time, it can be regarded as a muscle car. It became a legend and an integral part of its continent's automotive culture.
The Chevrolet Opala SS model is in 1:43 scale. Its bright green colour and black bonnet stripes emphasise the sporting character of the rather angular, rugged body. Well-rendered details include the rear-view mirror, headlights, bumper and wheels. The miniature was created for a Brazilian partwork and also appeared as issue No. 55 in the European Opel Collection series.
