The car’s story
The iconic Dodge Challenger SRT8 coupé debuted on 6 February 2008 at the Chicago and Philadelphia motor shows. This was the second generation, the first having ended production in 1974. Its styling recalled both the 1970 Challenger and established Dodge design cues.
Its principal rivals were considered to be Shelby’s Ford Mustang and the uncompromising Chevrolet Camaro SS.
The Chrysler Hemi V8 displaced 6,059 cc and produced 425 hp at 6,200 rpm and 569 Nm at 4,800 rpm. Compared with the base version, the SRT8 had sports suspension, Brembo brakes, bi-xenon headlights, heated seats and 20-inch forged aluminium wheels.
