Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 1958

The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa is one of Ferrari's most successful sports cars. It won Le Mans three times, in 1958, 1960 and 1961, along with many other races. This scale model represents the 1958 version, which differs slightly from the basic car in styling and construction.

Only four examples of that version were made.

Ferrari built no more than 40 cars of the model between 1956 and 1961. Testa Rossa, or TR, means “red head”. Its lightweight aluminium body was developed by Scaglietti and Pininfarina. The three-litre V12 produced 297 hp at 7,200 rpm. Buying one from a collector requires a substantial sum: in 2011 a 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa sold at a Goodings & Company auction for $16.4 million.
