Ferrari 340 MM

The Ferrari 340 MM racing car played an important role in the marque’s sporting history. MM, for Mille Miglia, clearly identified its purpose: racing on the Brescia–Rome–Brescia route. Body construction was entrusted to outside coachbuilders. Ten Ferrari 340 MM cars were built: two Spider Touring, five Spider/Barchetta Vignale and three Berlinetta Pininfarina.

The Ferrari 340 MM could be called technically accomplished. Its 4,522 cc V12 had an 8:1 compression ratio and produced 310 hp at 6,600 rpm. Three Weber 40 DCF carburettors supplied fuel. At 850 kg, the car reached 280 km/h. Some cars, like this scale model, had two-tone paint divided by a metal strip along the full length of the body sides.
