The car’s story
The Ferrari 400 Superamerica with Pininfarina bodywork was produced from 1960 to 1964. It was first shown at the Brussels Motor Show. The first example went to Gianni Agnelli, who soon became president of FIAT.
It bore little resemblance to its predecessors: the front recalled Maserati, while some details resembled Lancia models. Several 400 series appeared with minor exterior differences. Total production was 46 cars.
The Ferrari 400 Superamerica used a 3,967 cc V12 producing 340 hp at 7,000 rpm. With a weight of 1,280 kg, it reached 280 km/h. The body combined steel and aluminium. Both Spider and two-door coupé versions were available.
