The car’s story
The Ferrari F355 was unveiled in Monte Carlo in 1994 as the replacement for the 348. With the F355, the company adopted a new approach to naming its cars. The number 35 represented engine capacity in cubic centimetres divided by 100, while the final five indicated the number of valves per cylinder.
The 3,496 cc V8 was mounted longitudinally ahead of the rear axle. It delivered 380 hp at 8,250 rpm. With a total weight of 1,350 kg, the car’s top speed did not exceed 295 km/h. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual gearbox or an electronically controlled transmission derived from Formula racing cars. Every F355 had active suspension with a firm mode for fast driving and a soft mode for rougher roads.
