Ford Mustang I Concept 1962

This scale model faithfully reproduces the first concept of the legendary Ford Mustang. It was a two-seat, mid-engined coupé without a roof, with unusual, almost space-age styling. It was built in just one hundred working days. The roadster appeared in 1962 but did not greatly appeal to the general public. Buyers wanted a more practical car with four or five seats and a fixed roof.

Later Mustang concepts drew on sporting Falcon versions. The Falcon Sprint can be considered the true ancestor of the 1964 Mustang, providing its modified chassis and many components. The first prototype contributed only the badge and name.
