Ford Mustang GT Midland Police 2006

The Midland Police Department's traffic unit consists of two officers selected from patrol units to address specific traffic-enforcement issues in the city.

The problems they tackle were identified through residents' complaints, internal studies and the officers' own experience.

Each traffic officer receives an unmarked patrol car. In 2005 the department purchased a Ford Mustang for traffic patrol duties. Officers also receive a handheld Lidar laser speed-measuring device. They frequently join officers from other shifts to form selective traffic-enforcement teams, working at high-collision intersections and on streets where residents complain about speeding.
