The car’s story
Former racing driver Steve Saleen founded Saleen in 1983. Its headquarters and production facilities were in Irvine, California, USA. It specialised in modifying and building small runs of racing and road-going sports cars. In the years preceding the original text, it increasingly produced tuning packages for Toyota, General Motors and, of course, Ford production cars.
This Ford Mustang Saleen SR model represents the Saleen-Allen Speedlab racer driven by Terry Borcheller and Ron Johnson to the 2000 Grand-AM GTO championship. Specifications were: 325 km/h top speed, 0–60 mph in 4 seconds, 505 hp, 1,406 kg and a supercharged 5.8-litre V8.
