The car’s story
Michael Schumacher won his third world championship driving the Ferrari F1-2000, while Ferrari took the Constructors’ Championship in 2000. The car made its debut at the Australian Grand Prix. Schumacher’s teammate at Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro that year was Rubens Barrichello.
The F1-2000 was a development of the 1999 F399 chassis. It was built under the direction of Ferrari technical chiefs Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne. The chassis consisted of a carbon-fibre monocoque, with independent front and rear suspension using double wishbones, pushrods, springs and anti-roll bars. The F1-2000 was powered by a naturally aspirated 3-litre Ferrari 049 V10 engine. The team’s partners included fuel company Shell and tyre manufacturer Bridgestone.
