GAZ-21R Volga Auto Legends of the USSR

The GAZ-21R Volga was popular, sought-after and commercially successful in the USSR. It had no competitors on the domestic market, and its price put it beyond the reach of many buyers, allowing owners to display their status. In the West, however, the third-series GAZ-21 was considered outdated in design and appearance, so exports were not profitable.

Over eight years, roughly three times as many third-series cars were built as the first and second series combined. The GAZ-21R differed from the second series through a revised interior and several engineering changes. Its original designer, Lev Yeremeyev, worked on the exterior revisions.
