GAZ-69 T-3

The municipal T-3 pavement-cleaning vehicle was based on the GAZ-69 off-roader and entered production in 1960. It was developed by the UBM design bureau together with the design bureau of the Academy of Municipal Services. Assembly was handled by Moscow’s No. 3 Vehicle Repair Plant under the city’s vehicle repair plant administration. It worked mainly in winter, fitted with plough-and-brush equipment. Sand was loaded through a roof hatch into its 0.55 m³ hopper before the vehicle headed out into the city.

In summer, the T-3 towed a single-axle GAZ-704 trailer carrying building materials and tools. The T-3PU sweeping version introduced in 1966 enabled year-round municipal work. The GAZ-69 T-3 and T-3PU remained in production until 1972, when vehicles based on the UAZ-469 chassis replaced them.
