The car’s story
The GAZ-AA can be called one of the Soviet era’s great automotive legends. The leading and most common truck of the first half of the last century served everywhere: building sites, collective farms, the front and all kinds of supporting work in cities.
The first NAZ-AA left the Nizhny Novgorod Automobile Plant on 29 January 1932. On 7 October, the city was renamed Gorky, and by the end of the year production had reached 60 vehicles a day. Chassis numbered above 3,800 already carried the GAZ emblem.
The last ‘one-and-a-half-tonner’ was assembled at GAZ on 10 October 1949. Approximately 829,808 of these trucks were built in total.
