GAZ-21 from The Diamond Arm

The BM-toys scale model of the GAZ-21 Volga from the film The Diamond Arm comes with a personalised numbered certificate. I received model number 5 of the 21 produced. The complete set includes the car model, a display case, three character figures and a laminated diorama insert. No reissue is planned.

The diorama recreates the film's car-wash scene, where the smugglers Graf and Mechanic corner Gorbunkov. The car wash was built specifically for filming in Sochi's Central District and put into everyday service afterwards. That explains its exceptional cleanliness and tidiness. The scene also contains one of the film's continuity errors: the first part ends at the service station, where the characters played by Papanov and Mironov trap Nikulin's character in an inspection pit with no way out. The film then breaks off and the second part, ‘The Bone Leg’, begins; for some reason the hero is already out of the pit and retreating towards the car wash.
