The car’s story
The GAZ-M20 Pobeda convertible was produced from 1949 to 1953. This version arose because of the country's shortage of quality sheet steel. It therefore received a fabric roof, with the floor and body sides reinforced to ensure rigidity.
A total of 14,222 open-top Pobedas were built over four years. The convertible proved rather impractical, and its only useful role was as a taxi or official car in the country's southern regions.
