GAZ M21 Volga, Monte Carlo Rally 1964, No. 31

IXO’s Volga GAZ M-21 Monte Carlo 1964 No. 31 scale model was released in the French Rallye Monte-Carlo partwork series for publisher Altaya, for distribution in France, Spain and Portugal. It reproduces the legendary GAZ-21 Volga, registration АВ 00-53, driven in the 1964 rally by Anatoly Dmitrievsky and Sergei Tenishev.

Compared with the standard GAZ-21, the Monte Carlo rally car received additional headlights, imported seat belts and navigation instruments. It was assembled from specially selected parts, but its engine specifications and weight were unchanged because only production cars were eligible for the rally. A powerful searchlight from a ZIL-127 bus was fitted to the roof; the navigator could rotate it through 180 degrees from inside the car.
