GAZ M21L Volga from “Beware of the Car” with a Yuri Detochkin figurine

The GAZ M21L Volga from the film “Beware of the Car” belongs to a series of model cars inspired by famous Soviet and Russian films from various years, produced by the ICV workshop, which makes conversions based on IST Models. The film was made in 1966. At the time, its plot could have been described as fantastical: a modest, shy insurance agent and amateur theatre actor, Yuri Detochkin (played by Innokenty Smoktunovsky), turns out to be an uncompromising champion of justice.

Yet to the law, represented by an actor from the same theatre whose everyday occupation is that of investigator Podberyozovikov (Oleg Yefremov), this Robin Hood appears to be a dangerous, cunning, resourceful and elusive criminal. It would be hard to find an actor today capable of stealing a car so elegantly. Audiences loved Yuri Detochkin, his trophies and the waltz to whose rhythm the beige Volga swayed as it sped along the highway.
