The car’s story
The E-Type debuted in 1961, with over 70,000 built in fourteen years. It caused a sensation and became the finest touring car of its time. Three generations appeared, with coupé, convertible and longer-wheelbase 2+2 versions.
This scale model depicts the 2+2 coupé introduced in 1966. The rear-wheel-drive E-Type could have an optional three-speed automatic gearbox and a 24-valve 5,343 cc V12. The engine produced 314 PS at 6,200 rpm and 268 Nm at 5,750 rpm. Acceleration to 100 km/h took 6.8 seconds, with a top speed of 241 km/h.
