Lada 1200 Czechoslovakia VB 1978

IXO produced this 1978 Lada 1200 Czechoslovakia VB (Veřejná bezpečnost) model in 2007 for Czech company Foxtoys, in a run of 999. It reproduces the period yellow-and-white Czechoslovak police livery.

The Lada 1200 was the counterpart of the VAZ-2101 Zhiguli, the Volga Automobile Plant’s first car, developed with help from Italian partner FIAT.

Its direct rival was the FIAT 124, but modifications to the Soviet design often led buyers to choose VAZ. The Lada had a strengthened chassis and body and a modified engine. It was supplied to other socialist countries as well as Czechoslovakia, with 57,000 sold across Europe and Africa.
