Lancia Astura Pininfarina 1934

The Lancia Astura Pininfarina roadster was produced from 1934 to 1939. Its name makes clear that the design was the work of Pininfarina, and one look at the model inspires admiration for the result. The car was remarkably beautiful and elegant. The model took the name Astura from one of the historic roads leading to Rome.

The standard Astura saloon was a rather dull, unassuming car, but its X-shaped frame allowed virtually any body from an independent coachbuilder to be fitted. The 2.6-litre V8 engine produced 73 horsepower and could propel the car to 125 km/h. Other noteworthy features included a centralised lubrication system for all the main assemblies, hydraulic actuation and shock absorbers with improved characteristics.
