The car’s story
In its day, the imposing and expensive third-generation Mercedes-Benz ML SUV remained a sales leader in its segment. This scale model represents the 2008 car. This W164 version was fitted with a five-litre engine: a 32-valve V8 producing 388 hp at 6,000 rpm. For those who like precise figures, the engine's exact displacement was 5,461 cc. The SUV's top speed was limited to 240 km/h, and acceleration to 100 km/h took just 5.8 seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz ML 500 had permanent four-wheel drive, double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. Buyers could choose a seven-speed automatic gearbox and 19-inch aluminium wheels as options. The range of electronic safety systems and driving aids was limited only by the prospective owner's budget.
