The car’s story
The Morris Oxford model for MI5 agents in The Cold War Series represents the real Morris Oxford Series III. Production of the third Oxford series ran from 1956 to 1959.
The new version could be recognised by its two-tone paintwork, ridged bonnet and small rear fins.
A higher compression ratio increased engine output to 55 hp. Top speed of 119.7 km/h and acceleration remained almost unchanged. The car had a Manumatic semi-automatic transmission. Essentially, the Oxford was an enlarged Morris Minor. In 1957 sedan assembly began in India, where it was sold as the Hindustan Ambassador.
