The car’s story
The 2140 replaced the dated-looking Moskvich 412 and was introduced in 1974. The interior changed substantially, gaining a console and a new dashboard with round dials. Exterior changes were limited to the grille, reshaped front wings and the removal of the rear fins.
The Moskvich-2140 initially used engines from the 412. Later versions received the 75 hp UZAM-412, a 1.478-litre straight-four. The 2140 accelerated to 100 km/h in 19 seconds and reached a top speed of 142 km/h.
