The car’s story
The Moskvich-408 scale model faithfully reproduces the car manufactured by the Moscow Small Car Plant from 1964. The 408 had a 1.36-litre engine, accelerated to 100 km/h in 29 seconds and reached a top speed of 120 km/h.
The mechanical components of early Moskvich-408s differed little from those of the 407 and 403. The main changes concerned styling. Passive safety was considered in the body design, and this was the first Soviet car to undergo a crash test at the NAMI proving ground.
