The car’s story
The Moskvich 423 was the first Soviet estate car. With its rear seats folded, it could carry up to 250 kg of cargo along with the driver and front passenger. The rear door opened to the left for easier loading. Series production began in 1957, but this Moskvich was difficult for an ordinary citizen to buy.
Almost all cars entered state service, delivering small consignments to shops and collecting and transporting mail.
The Moskvich-423 was produced for no more than a year, until mid-1958. MZMA built 1,525 examples of this estate.
