The car’s story

The PMG-20 fire engine was produced at the Vargashi Firefighting Equipment Plant from 1959. It was based on the chassis of the GAZ-69 off-roader.

Its main tasks were to carry firefighting equipment and crew to a fire and supply water and foam.

It accommodated a crew of three. The rear compartment contained a transmission-driven PN-20L centrifugal pump delivering 20 litres per second at a head of 80 metres of water. It could draw from mains supplies or open water sources. The PMG-20 also carried a foam-agent tank, and its foam mixer produced 10 cubic metres of foam per minute.

PMG-20s were normally supplied from the factory with a single-axle trailer carrying either a hose reel or a tank of water or foam agent.
