Škoda Superb 2001

Škoda unveiled its flagship Superb saloon at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2001. It used an extended version of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat B5 platform. The original description calls it the fourth generation of the Superb, whose earlier versions were produced from 1934 to 1942. The English word ‘superb’ conveys magnificence, excellence and grandeur. This body style carried the designation B5 or, more typically for Škoda, Typ 3U.

The saloon met the demanding standards of the executive class. A spacious interior, a wide engine choice, modern equipment, firm independent suspension and attractive styling were offered at an affordable price. Considerable attention was paid to active and passive safety.
