The car’s story

After the rather unsuccessful and imperfect SMZ S-1L, the Serpukhov Motorcycle Plant began producing the SMZ S-3A family of mobility microcars. More than 200,000 were built between 1958 and 1970.

The SMZ S-3A's engine produced just 8 hp. Similar to the IZH-56 engine, it was a carburetted, single-cylinder two-stroke of 0.346 litres. The two-seat microcar had a top speed of 60 km/h.
