T-70 tank

The T-70 replaced the T-60 light tank. The first prototype was built in 1941 under the factory designation GAZ-70. The first vehicles were assembled at GAZ, with production later established at Factory No. 38 in Kirov. Between 1942 and 1943, 8,226 tanks were produced in T-70 and T-70M versions.

The T-70 used two GAZ-203 six-cylinder inline carburettor engines. They were liquid-cooled, with a combined output of 140 hp at 3,400 rpm and a displacement of 6,960 cc.

Crew: 2; combat weight: 9.2 tonnes; maximum speed: 45 km/h; range: 250 km. Main armament: a 45 mm 20K gun, model 1934, and a 7.62 mm DT machine gun, model 1929. Ammunition carried: 70 gun rounds and 945 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
