The car’s story
Growing car ownership paved the way for the establishment of the Volga Automobile Plant and the VAZ-2101. This scale model from the Auto Legends of the USSR series represents the real car. The first cars went on sale in 1970 and secured demand for a couple of decades to come.
Along with the FIAT-124, on which the VAZ was based, new technologies and genuinely good cars arrived in the country. Production of the “Kopeyka” ended in 1988. Around 4.85 million VAZ-2101 saloons were built in total.
