The car’s story
The VAZ-2108 Sputnik scale model reproduces the real car, the first domestically produced front-wheel-drive automobile. Interestingly, Porsche participated in the VAZ-2108's development and refinement. Design work began back in 1997, with close study of front-wheel-drive cars already in production.
This three-door hatchback was produced from 1984 to 2003. More than 20 foreign licences were purchased for manufacturing individual components. Almost 882,000 VAZ-2108 cars were built over 19 years.
