The car’s story
Replicars made an error with its Volga M21 KGB scale model. First, the Soviet KGB used the GAZ-23 Volga, although the base reads Volga M21. Second, the GAZ-23 had an export version, the GAZ-23B, with additional chrome body trim, which does not match the model shown at all. As a result, this Volga from The Cold War Series loses its historical value.
A total of 603 real GAZ-23s were built between 1962 and 1970. Its automatic transmission and 195 hp V8 made it more than 100 kg heavier than the standard saloon. Top speed was 160 km/h and acceleration to 100 km/h took only 16 seconds, compared with 34 seconds for the standard car.
