ZIL-114 Auto Legends of the USSR

The Likhachev plant, ZIL, assembled a team of its best specialists to develop a state limousine for Brezhnev. They had to create a fast, luxurious, reliable, comfortable and safe car for the country’s leader, who was himself a keen motoring enthusiast. Vasily Fyodorovich Rodionov led the project at the decision of ZIL director Anatoly Mavrikiyevich Krieger.

The ZIL-114 was the first model to carry the factory emblem featuring the Cyrillic initials ‘ЗИЛ’ inside a diamond, designed by body engineer Ilya Sukhorukov. A total of 113 examples of the 114 limousine were built between 1967 and 1978.
