ZIL-118KL forensic laboratory

The ZIL-118KL was created in 1982 by Moscow’s Likhachev Automobile Plant. Commissioned by Moscow’s criminal investigation department, this special minibus was built in very small numbers. It transported specialist teams and examined substances, evidence and other material from criminal or civil cases. The mobile laboratory took forensic experts to sites of investigative operations.

Unlike the production ZIL-118K Yunost, its interior had three sections: driver’s cab, laboratory work area and cargo compartment. The latter held a folding ladder, shovel, mine detector, portable floodlights, tripods, video recorder, video camera and portable generator.
