The car’s story
The ZIL-4104 replaced the ZIL-114 in the Special Purpose Garage. An elongated bonnet and a shorter boot gave the new luxury limousine a notably dynamic silhouette. Four round headlights in chrome surrounds, positioned separately from the radiator grille, gave the car a stern and distinctive appearance. No fundamental changes were made to the seven-seat interior.
The ZIL-4104 used a carburetted, four-stroke, overhead-valve V8 with a displacement of 7.7 litres and an output of 315 hp. It enabled a top speed of 190 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 13 seconds. According to available figures, 106 cars in the basic version were built during production of the first-generation limousines from 1977 to 1983.
