The car’s story
An austere grey-blue convertible like the one shown here in 1:43 scale took part in military parades on Red Square. Its colour was chosen specifically to match the ceremonial greatcoats of the USSR's senior commanders. Assembly of the phaetons ended in 1981, with three cars leaving the factory bearing ZIL-115V badges.
The ZIL-41044 featured bright orange leather seats that complemented the polished wood trim. The front passenger seat was removed to provide a standing position for the officer inspecting the parade. Warm air was directed towards his feet, while he held a special chrome handrail with his left hand. A microphone was fitted in front of the commander, and the radio transmitters were housed in the boot.
