The car’s story

The two-seat BMW Z8 Roadster was produced in 2000–2003 as the E52. Its design reinterpreted the BMW 507 in contemporary styling. The Z07 concept debuted in Tokyo in 1997.

In 1999 the production car appeared in The World Is Not Enough, before its official Frankfurt unveiling and limited-series production.

The body is entirely aluminium. A Y-shaped frame increases rigidity, with front rails, sills and the centre tunnel carrying the loads. The M5-derived S62 V8 displaced 4,941 cc and produced 400 hp at 6,000 rpm and 500 Nm at 3,800 rpm. Its Getrag transmission was exclusively a six-speed manual.
