The car’s story
The Chevrolet Niva, written “Шевроле Нива” in Russian, is a compact off-road vehicle with permanent four-wheel drive. It is manufactured at the GM-AvtoVAZ plant. Its story began when AvtoVAZ sold the rights to the Niva/Нива brand and the licence for the VAZ-2123 model to automotive giant General Motors.
The Chevrolet Niva entered series production in 2002, with American engineers making around 1,700 changes to its design.
The Chevy Niva has a two-speed transfer case and a lockable centre differential. Its 1.7-litre petrol engine with multipoint fuel injection produces 80 hp. The highest trim level included 15-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, audio pre-wiring, artificial-leather upholstery, air conditioning, heat-insulating tinted windows and other equipment.
