The car’s story
The metal scale model of the Ford Mustang 2+2 Bertone was produced from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. The Bertone Mustang is a reissue of a Politoys model. This version was most likely made by the Vatutin Toy Factory in Kyiv in the mid-1980s, as it has chrome-plated fittings. The same 1/43 scale models were also produced by Ukrpromigrushka in Donetsk and by DFI, but DFI’s Mustang had plastic wheel covers.
The model cost 5 roubles and 00 kopecks and was one of the most expensive reissues of foreign model cars. Its doors, bonnet and boot open.
Giuseppe Bertone, creator of the real 1965 Ford Mustang prototype, could not overlook the popularity and beauty of Ford’s new creation and designed his own bodywork for it. For several years, it was maestro Giuseppe Bertone’s personal car.
