Ford Mustang Convertible Thunderball James Bond 007 Collection

Ford supplies cars for James Bond films. The secret agent often drives them himself, but other characters sometimes take the wheel. In the fourth film, Thunderball, based on Ian Fleming's novel, Fiona Volpe, played by Luciana Paluzzi, drives a blue Mustang convertible with a white soft top.

After taking Bond, played by Sean Connery, down a country road at over 100 mph, she asks, “You look pale, Mr Bond. I hope I didn't frighten you?”

MI6 sends 007 to the Bahamas, where intelligence suggests SPECTRE is hiding atomic bombs. They were stolen in Operation Thunderball along with a NATO bomber carrying two nuclear warheads. Threatening to destroy two major cities, the terrorists demand a large diamond ransom from the British government.

The film car presumably has a 306 hp 289 V8, as reaching 100 mph would be difficult for the basic convertible. The gearbox is likely a three-speed automatic, since Fiona makes no movements resembling manual gear changes.
