IZH-2125 Kombi USSR Auto Legends

The IZH-2125, also known as the IZH-Kombi, was produced in its various forms from 1973 to 1997. During the nine years of production of the original model, up to 1982, 66,489 cars were built. The first IZH-2125 Kombi rolled off the assembly line in 1973. The car was something between a Moskvich-408 and a Moskvich-426; this body style is known as a liftback.

Putting it into production required no major capital investment, as the car shared as many components as possible with the saloon. The main structural difference was at the rear: the glazed fifth door was held open by telescopic support mechanisms, while its pronounced slope when closed improved aerodynamics and gave the car its distinctive appearance. All early IZH-2125s featured an original front grille flanked by vertical units containing the position lights and direction indicators.
