The car’s story
The ISU-152 heavy self-propelled gun has 90 mm armour on the hull sides and front, 60 mm at the rear and 20–30 mm on the roof and belly. The designation ISU indicates an artillery vehicle based on an IS-series tank. Series production began in February 1943 at the Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant (ChKZ). Around 670 heavy self-propelled guns of this version were built in total.
Engine: V-2-IS: liquid-cooled V12 diesel, 38880 cc; 520 PS at 2000 rpm.
Crew: 4; combat weight: 46 tonnes. Maximum speed: 35 km/h; range: 220 km.
Main armament: A 122 mm ML-20S model 1937 gun-howitzer; a 12.7 mm DShK model 1938 machine gun on an anti-aircraft mounting on some vehicles.
Ammunition: 20 rounds of 122 mm ammunition; 250 rounds of 12.7 mm machine-gun ammunition.
