KIM-10-50 USSR Auto Legends

The KIM-10-50 made its debut on Red Square on 1 May 1940. Plans to produce the first Soviet small car had been announced back in 1938, and in 1939 the party leadership approved the project. A. N. Ostrovtsev was appointed chief designer.

Stalin was the chief automotive expert, and he did not like the KIM-10-50. As a result, I. A. Likhachev, People's Commissar for Medium Machine Building, lost his post, and changes to the car's design were demanded in line with the chosen prototype. However, as 500 two-door bodies had already been ordered in the United States, they were fitted to the prepared chassis.
