Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster

At the Bologna Motor Show, Lamborghini unveiled a roadster based on the Diablo. It had a plastic roof with electric operation that slid backwards towards the engine. The supercar reached showrooms in 1996 and remained in production until 1998. No more than 200 Diablo VT Roadsters were built during that period.

The standard Diablo’s body was almost completely redesigned for the roadster, leaving no interchangeable body panels between the two. Sun- and rain-resistant materials were used inside. Designers reduced the dashboard’s size and reshaped the engine cover to improve visibility through the rear-view mirror. Larger air intakes above the rear wings improved engine cooling. The Diablo Roadster used a 5.7-litre V12 producing 485 hp and a peak torque of 580 Nm.
