The car’s story
Production of the Moskvich-400-420A was established after the war at the Moscow Small Car Plant (MZMA). Its prototype was the Opel Kadett K38. Series production of the 400-420A began in 1947. Over almost eight years, through 1954, 114,000 Moskvich-400-420 saloons were built, representing about 84% of total output.
Like the real Moskvich-400-420A, the scale model in the Auto Legends of the USSR series has a convertible body. This design resulted from a shortage of thin sheet steel. A Moscow Kremlin tower became the car's symbol and appeared on its badge.
